How can I avoid shadows in my scans?
Use even, diffused light and avoid casting your own shadow or phone shadow over the page. Magic Color helps even out lighting while retaining color; Clean B/W improves contrast for printed text. Strong shadows and faint text may still require better lighting or a new photo.
Does Scanner.cam have OCR or text extraction?
Yes. Open Export, expand Advanced options, and enable Searchable PDF (OCR). English, Spanish, French, and German recognition can add a searchable text layer to the exported PDF. English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, and Arabic are available as Unicode text downloads. Recognition runs locally in your browser. First use needs internet access to download recognition files. Recognition accuracy depends on scan quality, and text selection positions are approximate.
Is there a limit on how large my scanned files can be?
There is no account quota or imposed page cap. Available device memory, browser storage, and browser limits constrain how many scans you can process at once. For large documents, work in smaller batches. PDF quality settings reduce exported file size while your saved scans retain their detail.
How does the perspective correction and corner magnifier work?
Adjust the four document corners to straighten an angled photo into a rectangle. The 2.5× corner magnifier helps place each handle accurately. Apply the crop when the corners match the document edges.
What document filters are available and which should I choose?
Choose Magic Color to brighten paper and soften uneven lighting while retaining color, Clean B/W for high-contrast printed text, Enhance to boost contrast, Gray to remove color, or Original to keep source colors without enhancement. Clean B/W can remove faint or colored details, so check the preview before exporting.
