Is curved-page correction automatic?

No. You adjust the top and bottom bends manually and review the preview. This correction works best for gentle curves; it cannot recover text hidden by folds or deep shadows.

Does this work like perspective cropping?

Perspective cropping adjusts the four document corners. Curve correction changes how the image is sampled between its top and bottom boundaries to reduce gentle vertical bowing.
