Compress a Scanned PDF to Your Size Limit
Upload a scanned PDF or photos, then choose a size limit in Export. Compression adjusts image resolution and quality locally. Very small limits may be impossible without losing readability; the tool tells you when the limit cannot be met.
The interactive tool needs JavaScript enabled.
How to use this tool
- Upload your scanned PDF or document photos.
- Open Export and choose 500 KB, 1 MB, or a custom limit.
- Check the measured file size and quality preview before downloading.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make a PDF smaller than 1 MB?
Choose a 1 MB target in Export. Scanner.cam tries progressively smaller image settings and measures the actual PDF. If the limit cannot be met, it shows an error instead of silently downloading an oversized file.
Will compression preserve editable PDF text?
Imported PDFs are converted to page images. Existing text layers, links, forms, and digital signatures are not retained. Keep the original PDF and check readability before submitting the compressed copy.
